Issues with the AUX/Audio PortUpdated 8 months ago

If you're experiencing problems with the AUX/audio port on your adapter, follow these steps:

  1. Manual Audio Output Selection:

    • You need to manually change the output device on your MacBook.
    • Go to System Settings > Sound > Output (or System Preferences > Sound > Output on older macOS versions).

  2. Selecting the Correct Output:

    • If no monitor is connected via HDMI, look for the name of your adapter or "USB Audio Device" in the list of output devices.
    • If a monitor is connected via HDMI to the same adapter:
      • The output device may display as the name of the monitor instead of the adapter.
      • Select the name or model of your monitor from the list.

  3. For Setups with Multiple Monitors:

    • If you have two monitors connected, you may need to test each one:
      i. Select the first monitor name in the output list.
      ii. Play a test sound.
iii. If you don't hear audio, select the second monitor and test again.
    • The monitor name that produces sound is the one connected to the 9-in-1 adapter with the AUX output.

  4. Testing the Audio:

    • After selecting an output, play a sound (e.g., music or a system sound) to verify it's working.

  5. Troubleshooting:

    • If you don't see your adapter or monitor listed, try unplugging and reconnecting the adapter.
    • Ensure your adapter's firmware is up to date.
    • Check that the AUX cable is securely connected to both the adapter and your audio device.

  6. Volume Control:

    • Remember to check both the MacBook's volume and the volume of the connected audio device.
