Wiggly or Loose MagSafe Port of the DockUpdated 8 months ago
Yes, the MagSafe charging port on our docks is intentionally designed to have some movement.
Here's what you need to know:
- Normal Design:
- The "loose" or "wiggly" feel of the MagSafe port is intentional and not a defect.
- This design accommodates variations in MagSafe port placement on MacBook devices manufactured since 2021.
- The flexibility ensures compatibility across a wider range of MacBook models.
- Purpose:
- Without this flexibility, the dock might not work with some MacBook devices, even of the same model.
- This design ensures a higher success rate in connecting and charging various MacBook models.
- When to be concerned:
While some movement is normal, certain issues may indicate a problem:- If your MacBook isn't charging at all
- If the charging connection frequently cuts off during use
- Troubleshooting steps:
If you experience charging issues:
a. Ensure the MagSafe connector is clean and free from debris.
b. Try reconnecting the MagSafe cable to your MacBook.
c. Check if the issue persists with a different MacBook (if available). - Reporting a problem:
If you believe there's an issue beyond the normal flexibility, please:- Note the serial number on the bottom of your dock.
- Record a video demonstrating the problem. We're specifically looking for:
- The MagSafe LED turning off unexpectedly
- The monitor losing connection when the MagSafe cable is moved
- Email the serial number and video to [email protected]
- Regular use:
- During normal use, you shouldn't need to move or adjust the MagSafe connection frequently.
- Once connected, it should maintain a stable charging connection.
